#243: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending August 1.

No Objections Hello, hope you’re well. Chris here with issue # 243 of Switch Weekly. I’m about 6 or 7 hours into Skyward Sword and I’m really enjoying it. I think the linear nature of it is actually quite nice for shorter play sessions. I can open it up, get a little bit farther along, and call it a day. I could never do that with BotW — I’d get lost for hours exploring. I love both, I just think the linear nature of Skyward Sword is probably better suited to life with a toddler. 😅
There’s just over
20 games
coming to Switch next week, including that Sega-themed Picross which we’ve been waiting on.
🎮 Currently Playing — The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Wild Guns REVIEW The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is the perfect vacation game — ” might just be the best that Ace Attorney has to offer. It has shocking twists, lovable characters, and the unmatched joy that comes from solving a complex crime “. Here are some other reviews:
Andrew Webster // The Verge REVIEW Neo: The World Ends With You is a competent RPG haunted by its predecessor — ” When this game shines, it really shines ” but Kaile adds that it ” desperately wants to get out of its own way and be its own game, but it simply can’t pull it off […] If you’re a fan of the franchise, there’s a lot here for you specifically. If you’re coming in fresh, the game is going to throw a lot of jargon at you in a very short amount of time “. Jade King at The Gamer calls it ” the sequel we’ve been waiting for “. Kaile Hultner // Polygon New Pokémon Snap gets free update with more Pokémon and three new areas next week — Twenty new creatures to photograph too. Daniel Vuckovic // Vooks Nintendo promises more Animal Crossing content is coming — With over 30 million copies of this game sold to date Nintendo’s post-launch support here has been a bit… limp . Undoubtedly the pandemic has hurt things here — but it will be interesting to see just how substantial these future updates are. Richard Breslin // GameByte Everything that has happened since the Activision Blizzard lawsuit was filed — This post does a good job of highlighting all the key moments in this fast moving dreadful shitstorm of a story. For what it’s worth, I won’t be sharing coverage of Activision/Blizzard titles here in Switch Weekly for the foreseeable future. Zack Zwiezen // Kotaku REVIEW Samurai Warriors 5 — ” takes the long-running franchise, gives it a wonderfully vibrant lick of paint, throws in some excellent new combat mechanics and fills its story mode with well-directed cutscenes, resulting in a slick and stylish addition to the series that’s sure to please fans and newcomers alike “. PJ O’Reilly // Nintendo Life REVIEW B.ARK — ” Those who are generally looking for a more laidback, multiplayer focused title won’t be barking up the wrong tree if they give this one a spin “. Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report Pokémon Unite feels a little too ‘pay to win’ for some players Tyler Colp // Polygon The ‘non-Earthbound’ titles Switch Online needs Kevin Orme // Big Daddy Gaming Pokemon Unite has a serious idling problem Cian Maher // The Gamer Five things I still hate about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Rebecca Stone // Twinfinite
