Hey
, issue 104 of Switch Weekly here, with the latest Nintendo news you need to know.
This week we got another look at the upcoming Smash game, with a detailed Direct presentation —
I’ve linked it below
. The Direct didn’t quite match expecations, as many had come to believe a ‘leak’ of characters, so when they didn’t show up reaction was mixed. The addition of Piranha Plant as a playable character is one announcement we did get, and it’s a hilarious left-field inclusion that I’m all for.
Mario’s real-life namesake, Mario Seagle, passed away this week at 84. The real estate developer rented a warehouse to Nintendo of America in 1981, and when Nintendo needed a ‘real’ name for Jumpman they looked to him for inspiration.
Here’s a great 2010 write-up on the ‘true face’ of Mario
which is worth your time.
I’ve finally picked up Golf Story
(it’s been on sale)
so I’m looking forward to getting into that after hearing so many good things. I also grabbed The Gardens Between for a little local co-op action. Anyway, all the usual releases
(another busy Thursday!)
and links worth checking out are below.
Thanks for reading! Until next week,
Cheers,
Chris

REVIEW
Diablo 3
“we tried like hell to bring Diablo 3’s 60fps framerate to its knees on the Switch, it not only didn’t break, it didn’t even flinch”

Long live Grim Fandango
This classic game recently landed on the Switch. Here’s a lengthy article
(from a few years back)
that’s a love letter to Tim Schafer’s highly acclaimed, beloved adventure game.
