Hi,
issue 112 of Switch Weekly here,
the first of 2019
, with your digest on all things Switch.
Happy new year! I hope you all had a great festive break, I’m back into the swing of things fully tomorrow after a few weeks off visiting family. I haven’t had too much chance to game, and after buying a fair few games in the festive sale, I’ve something of a Switch backlog to work through — a nice problem to have!
Anyway, lots of rumour circling around a Nintendo Direct presentation looming — that would make sense. We got
(a mini)
one in early January last year, along with the Labo reveal. So keep your eyes peeled for a possible announcement.
Some side notes:
I’m going to be giving the whole YouTube thing a try again
(resolutions and all!)
so help keep me honest by
subscribing
and checking out
my latest video
.
…and if you know anyone who got a Switch over Christmas, please do
let them know about Switch Weekly
— word of mouth really helps, so I appreciate any sharing you can do.
What lies ahead? Analysts make 2019 predictions

Nintendo president on risk, innovation, and reducing business instability
In an interview with Nikkei, Shuntaro Furukawa spoke on the risks of being in the entertainment industry. I’ve seen lots of people taking his comments here out of context, chiefly surrounding Nintendo’s possible future console plans. He said the company is ‘flexible’
(they are)
, people took it to mean they may move away from home consoles. 🙄

Why Mario + Rabbids is the successor to the Paper Mario series
Makes the case that Ubisoft’s turn-based RPG captures the spirit of the early Paper Mario titles far better than the ones put out by Nintendo recently. I’ve not played this yet, but as it’s on sale right now
(until the 7th)
I have little excuse.
