Hey,
issue 115 of Switch Weekly here, with this week’s Nintendo round-up.
I’ll start with the bad news
(in case you missed it)
—
Metroid Prime 4 has been delayed in a big way
. Development on the game has been rebooted, with Retro Studios back in the driving seat. Apparantly the development up until this point was
being carried out across various studios
and struggled as a result — it’s now being developed under one roof. I’ve put my thoughts on this
in a video
over on my YouTube channel —
sub if you haven’t yet!
.
As for the good news,
Nintendo shared an indie highlights video this week
, giving us a glimpse at plenty of cool indie titles coming the Switch in the coming months. I’ve linked it up below.
As for me,
I’ve been checking out Inops
which launched this week – it’s
a 2D platformer with puzzle elements
— I’ll share more thoughts when I’ve dug into it a little deeper. Anyway, all the usual news and upcoming games can be found below. A massive thanks for reading.

Indie Highlights
Nintendo shared this round-up of upcoming indie games coming to the Switch this year. Plenty of cool looking stuff here, highlights for me include Wargroove, Double Kick Heroes and SteamWorld Quest.

Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 Delay
I said I was going to be uploading to YouTube more — here’s my thoughts on what the delay means, and some speculation on just when the game will arrive.

REVIEW
FutureGrind
“is excellent from top to bottom, bringing forth a slew of novel sidescrolling trick-based gameplay ideas with aplomb”
. Heather Alexandra for Kotaku
also seemed keen

REVIEW
Smite
Described as
“one of the best entries in the genre”
— this MOBA is currently only available as a paid ‘Founder’s Pack’ download, with the free-to-play version expected to launch later.

Nintendo rebounds as optimistic signs emerge after a brutal year
Not sure I’d agree
at all
with ‘brutal’ in the headline here (
especially considering the above item
), but hey gotta get them clicks. Anyway, ahead of Nintendo’s financial results
(due January 31)
here’s what a handful of analysts expect – with the takeaway being that Nintendo will come just short of their 20 million Switch hardware goal.

I hate Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Look past the headline here. Raises some fair points on just how unwelcoming the menus in Smash are, and how generally the game
“feels like it’s being unfaithful to Nintendo’s unique spirit”
.
