Issue 123 — March 24, 2019 
Hey! Issue #123 of Switch Weekly here, with your round-up of the week in Nintendo Switch news and a peek at what games are coming up. Something of a busy week really — not only did we get a first proper look at the next Labo kit, we also were treated to a glimpse at what indie games are on the horizon by way of a Nindies video presentation. The big news from that was that Cuphead is coming to the Switch, in part due to a seemingly blossoming relationship with Microsoft. More of that please. Outside of Nintendo, Google’s Stadia announcement got the industry chatting. I’ve not really been able to get a solid read on which way people really feel about it, but from my point of view it’s an inevitable glimpse into where things are ultimately heading . Google have the muscle to make it a reality, for sure — whether they have the stamina is another matter. I think at this stage the obvious barrier to entry is global internet speeds — as in actuality they probably don’t match the vision. All very interesting though! ▶ Nindies Showcase Spring 2019 — A new round-up of over a dozen new indie games coming to the Switch. This presentation was bookended with two great announcements — Cuphead is coming to the Switch, and Zelda characters are making an appearance in a new Crypt of the NecroDancer game . Personal highlight: ‘My Friend Pedro’ – that game looks rad. Nintendo // YouTube Cuphead’s creator desperately wants him in Super Smash Bros — Following news that the game is landing on Switch next month, project director Jared Moldenhauer has said he’d love to see his creations in Nintendo’s brawler . Ben Hanson // Game Informer How an indie developer is making an official Zelda game — While it’s fundamentally a mash-up of The Legend of Zelda and Crypt of the NecroDancer, the next Zelda game (Cadence of Hyrule) is still being made by a small, third-party indie developer . Tom Marks // IGN The new auteurs of gaming — Makes the case that big budget games like Red Dead Redemption have gotten “boring” , and a ” diverse crop of engaging, budget-friendly games” are welcome alternatives. Mac Schwerin // The Outline ▶ Nintendo Labo – Toy-Con 04: VR Kit — After announcing the next Labo kit a little while back, we’ve now got a first look at it in action via this 7-minute video.
