Got the Munchies.
Hey, here’s issue #141 of Switch Weekly, with the week in Nintendo news. First up — thanks for the feedback shared in last week’s issue. Always good to know that the majority are enjoying the newsletter and finding it valuable. Don’t forget you can always hit me up on Twitter with any Q’s or comments. Preorders for the Switch Lite have now opened up on Amazon US, so if you’re still thinking of getting one, here’s the link you need . Hero is out now in Smash — I’ve not had chance to play him just yet, but I watched the intro video (linked below) and he seems to have plenty of depth and neat detail that Dragon Quest fans will appreciate. On a related note — If you’re reading this on Sunday night then EVO 2019 is wrapping up today , and Smash Ultimate is closing the show. You can catch it live on Twitch . Anyway, that’s all from me — the usual good stuff, plus what games are out next week ( including Turok 2 ), in the issue below. Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
▶ Mr. Sakurai presents “Hero” for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — A fairly chill approach to showing off the second DLC character for Ultimate. Hero is out now. Nintendo // YouTube Nintendo and Tencent reveal Switch release plans for China — Chinese web giant Tencent come with their own baggage and history for sure, but they’ve already found success in gaming in China with PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings, so this partnership makes a good degree of sense. This collab also means Chinese Switch owners can buy games on the eShop with WeChat payments — a really smart move. Sam Byford // The Verge Switch owners choose to play EA games on other platforms, says CEO — This got a big eye-roll from me. EA’s platform support on Switch has been pitiful . Here’s a related video from Jim Sterling . Ryan Craddock // Nintendo Life Nintendo Switch Online members can try a Mario game for free next week — Paying members can download/play Mario Tennis Aces (whereas in Japan the trial game is Captain Toad). Cool to see them mixing up the offering for paying members. More of this . Kevin Knezevic // GameSpot REVIEW Forager “is absolutely worth a look” — “might just be the coziest, most laid-back video game I end up playing this year” Jordan Devore // Destructoid REVIEW Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power — “a lesser game than its predecessors” Ollie Reynolds // Nintendo Life REVIEW The Church in the Darkness — “marred by technical shortcomings” Tomas Franzese // DualShockers REVIEW Chroma Squad — “influenced by Super Sentai & the Power Rangers” David Lloyd // Nintendo World Report
Outer Worlds Switch version confirmed but you’ll have to wait a while
