Hey 👋 Issue #145 of Switch Weekly here, with this week’s Nintendo news. Not much commentary from me today, I’m away with the family on a short break — This week’s newsletter comes to you from a hotel lobby here in Cambridge, UK. The only thing I will say is: Welcome to September, this month is looking stacked , with Spyro, Daemon X Machina, Dragon Quest XI S, Ori, FF8 and Link’s Awakening to name but a few. Oh, and I think it’s about time we have a Nintendo Direct right….

REVIEW Astral Chain — Aaron Potter for Switch Player enjoyed it: “one of the most confident, stylish and satisfying third-person action games we’ve played in quite a while” . Eurogamer’s John Linneman claims it pushes Platinum in new directions . Whereas Jack Webb at The Independent thought it to be tedious . Overall, reviews are generally positive . This Wired piece concludes that “despite its limitations, the Lite offers an affordable path to the amazing universe of Switch games” . Chaim Gartenberg of The Verge is also a fan , saying this machine, complete with D-Pad, is “today’s Game Boy” and “a worthy spinoff of the original Switch that feels more premium than its budget price tag suggests”.
