#150: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending October 6.
|
Blue!
Hey , here’s the one-hundred and fiftieth issue of Switch Weekly with this week’s dose of Nintendo links you need to click. Hitting a nice number like this (#150) always make me stop and think about how far this little newsletter has come. Sending my thoughts to over 5,000 of you each week and and keeping you all up-to-date with what’s on the horizon is something I still love doing — it’s crazy to think I’ve been doing this for nearly three years now , it certainly doesn’t feel like it’s been that long! Anyway, enough introspection — I count 30(!) games hitting the eShop next week – including Asphalt 9 ( which is free to start ), Trine 4, and the new Yooka-Laylee game.
Have a great week,
Brain Age: Nintendo Switch Training announced for Switch —Dr. Kawashima returns for some more brain training. At the moment this has only been announced for Japan, but considering the success of the DS version internationally, I’d expect this to follow suit globally. It’s out in late December, and an official stylus to use with the game is also on the horizon. It’s worth clicking through to watch the overview videos to see some of the inventive ways in which this title will use the Joy Cons. Sal Romano // Gematsu REVIEW Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition —Claims that this shooter is “well worth a look, despite its shortcomings” . However, this other review from iMore isn’t so keen and said the game isn’t a good fit on the Switch. Dom Reseigh-Lincoln // Nintendo Life REVIEW Hexagroove Tactical DJ: “the most unique game I’ve played this year” Mikey // Nindie Nexus PREVIEW Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Ryan McCaffrey // IGN INTERVIEW Talking Overwatch on Nintendo Switch with producer Wes Yanagi — The port has taken about a year to get right, and this version (which I’ve got pre-ordered) introduces gyro-aiming to the much loved hero shooter. The Verge also have a related interview with Jeff Kaplan , the games director, which is worth a look. Vooks SuperEpic announced for Switch —This ‘Metroidvania style adventure’ was announced earlier this week, and is due for release in Decemeber. I’m sharing here as the story description alone makes it sounds pretty interesting. In it you’re tasked with taking down a “video game development company that controls an Orwellian society by addicting citizens to their free games” . Maybe one worth adding to your watch list.
