googly eyes
👋 Hi , issue #151 of Switch Weekly here with all the Nintendo links you need to see. I’ve done it again — I’ve been on the eShop picking up bargains when I’ve already got a massive backlog to get through. 🙈 But, beyond shopping I have played some games this week ( what about you? ) — I played through a couple more levels of Sayonara Wild Hearts again, did a bit more honking in that goose game, and I’ve been trying out Felix the Reaper ( it’s out next week, and I’ll be sure to share my thoughts here in the next issue ). Next week is another big one with over 30 games coming out, including the likes of Overwatch ( which now comes with its own problems ), The Witcher 3 , and Little Town Hero . There’s plenty to dig into this week, so I’ll let you start perusing.
Thanks for reading,
REVIEW Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair — ” hearkens back to the days of Donkey Kong Country ” — Despite some misgivings, this seems to be a solid second outing for the Playtonic pair, offering vibes of classic games whilst still being its own thing . Neal Ronaghan // Nintendo World Report Little Town Hero director on stepping out of Pokémon’s shadow — An interview with Masao Taya about Little Town Hero, ” an RPG that busy gamers might actually have a hope of finishing ” — it’s out next week. Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life ▶ Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch — Both a Japanese and European launch have now been confirmed. It’s launching on my birthday here in the UK. Nintendo UK // YouTube DOOM Eternal delayed, Switch version is the most heavily affected — id Software have pushed back the Switch version beyond March next year. Ryan Craddock // Nintendo Life REVIEW Asphalt 9: Legends — ” free and surprisingly fun ” — The takeaway here for this free-to-start arcade racer is: treat the base download as a mere demo, and if you like it, opt to pay £20 to get rid of most of the annoyances. Chris Scullion // Nintendo Life REVIEW Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince — ” one of the best titles in the puzzle platformer genre ” Oliver Brandt // Vooks ▶ Early impressions of Ring Fit Adventure on the Nintendo Switch Nintendo Life ▶ 101 rapid-fire questions about Pokémon Sword And Shield — Director Shigeru Ohmori and producer Junichi Masuda answer question’s about the new game’s features, new Pokémon, and the series’ history. Ben Hanson // Game Informer ▶ Resident Evil 5 and 6 on Switch: Demo graphics comparisons and performance testing — Demos for both of these ports are now up on the eShop, however as this video digs into, initial impressions aren’t great… Digital Foundry // YouTube REVIEW Killer Queen Black Scott Baird // ScreenRant The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch: Everything you need to know Reb Valentine // iMore Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz is a lot more fun now that it’s not on the Wii Mike Fahey // Kotaku DS games on Switch — Now that Brain Training has been confirmed for Switch, here’s a look at what other DS games would be a good fit on the platform. N-Europe Mathew Olson and Kat Bailey // US Gamer Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma explains the “hook” of ‘Link’s Awakening’ Patrick Shanley // Hollywood Reporter REVIEW The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening — Yes, this game has been out a few weeks now, but this review takes a different approach I deem worth linking to, challenging Nintendo on their pricing strategy for remakes and asking whether you would: ” bite at a re-release of a 1993 game, with 1993 gameplay, 1993 storytelling, and all the limitations of 1993 Game Boy development intact, only with 2019 graphics technology. ” Cathy // Indie Gamer Chick How David Lynch’s Twin Peaks influenced the Legend Of Zelda series Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life
