#154: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending November 3.

Hi , issue #154 of Switch Weekly here, with your Nintendo news and upcoming games. I’ve noticed a few people speaking out lately about highly aggressive discount pricing on certain Switch eShop games. This is the practice of certain games being discounted to crazy prices as a tactic to get to the top of the charts. For consumers it’s a quick win — you get a game for super cheap. But for developers it’s akin to the race to the bottom we saw on the iOS app store just under a decade ago. Should a developer ever be asking for less than a dollar for their game? Everyone loves a sale, but it does give me pause when I see this going on and ponder the broader devaluing effect it must be having as a whole. Some of you may have noticed this week that the SwitchList app vanished from app stores and the site shut down somewhat suddenly. The site/app was a service for tracking games and prices. It had a loyal following so was a shame to see it go. Deku Deals and World of Switch seem like decent alternatives for tracking games/sales. Anyway, the big release last week was Luigi’s Mansion 3 (I’ve not grabbed it yet, but it looks great and is currently sitting higher than Death Stranding on Metacritic). As for next week, we’ve got nearly 30 games hitting the eShop, including Just Dance 2020, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, and New Super Lucky’s Tale.
Thanks for reading my ramblings, and enjoy the issue,
REVIEW Luigi’s Mansion 3 — ” ghost-gusting adventure at its charming best ” — A glowing review for Luigi’s third ghost hunting outing, one that’s said to be full of memorable moments and personality. A game that can proudly stand “toe-to-toe with the most playful and inventive” of Nintendo’s repertoire. Here’s another review from VGC. Alan Wen // Switch Player Nintendo’s latest sales numbers reveal Switch Lite sold 2 million units — Seems like a strong start for the new model. Andy Robinson // VGC REVIEW Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD — I was looking forward to this one as it’s been too long since I’ve played some Monkey Ball ( I played a fair bit of the early GameCube entries ) so it’s a shame to see this one doesn’t really hit the mark. It seems the removal of the motion contols ( found in the original Wii release ) hasn’t quite worked as intended, resulting in a seemingly frustrating experience. This review from NWR reaches a similar conclusion. Skye Son // Vooks Overwatch 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch Jordan Ramée // Gamespot REVIEW Disgaea 4 Complete+ — Sounds like this may be a bit demanding for those new to the series as it has plenty of complex systems to get to grips with. Mitch Vogel // Nintendo Life REVIEW Reventure Steven Green // The Switch Effect Ring Fit Adventure takes steps many exercise games don’t to include players with disabilities (relinking this as I had the wrong URL last week) Laura K Dale The Outer Worlds devs on Switch port: We were “very, very surprised” Mathew Olson // US Gamer How New Super Lucky’s Tale ended up on Switch, and how Nintendo helped along the way Nintendo Everything His name is Reggie: Talking to ex-Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aimé Joe Skrebels // IGN
