#176: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending April 12.
|
It’s Bunny Day.
👋 Hey , thanks for checking out this week’s issue of Switch Weekly. As ever, here’s everything Nintendo from the past seven days that you need to see, plus a look at what games are landing next week . Not a great deal of big news to share with you this week, but a meaty issue all the same with plenty of reviews and features to dig into. Next week sees just over 20 games hitting the eShop, not many heavy hitters, but there is a dating sim for those later in life. 😅 Finally, I’d like to give a shout out to Julian Jenkins , the artist behind the image above — I originally saw this ‘Super Joy-Con Adventures’ pic over on Reddit and reached out to see if I could share it all with you here, and Julian was kind enough to oblige. You can check out Julian’s work on both Instagram and Society 6 . If you dig it, I’d love if could jump in to the comments on Instagram and show Julian some love .
Thanks for reading, keep well —
I’m off to grab those last few eggs for the weirdo bunny

REVIEW Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories — ” Disaster Report returns to the West, only now it’s without what made the oddball series special in the first place. “. Caty McCarthy // US Gamer Mario remasters and the Switch’s identity crisis — Abram Buehner explains why the thought of several Mario remasters coming to Switch is to him both ” incredibly exciting and stingingly disappointing “. Abram Buehner // Nintendad A Super Mario Christmas is the ideal counter to PS5 and Xbox Series X Christopher Dring // gamesindustry REVIEW Gunbrick: Reloaded — ” Nitrome’s signature is designing increasingly complex levels out of the most basic gameplay mechanics, and Gunbrick: Reloaded shows how well that formula can work “. This review from Nintendo Life wasn’t so complimentary. Michael Goroff // EGM ▶ REVIEW Grimvalor —Worth a look if you’re into Dark Souls, Blasphemous and the like . Juan Romero (Switch Watch) // YouTube REVIEW Stela — Described as “a gorgeous atmospheric platforming experience”, but one that doesn’t quite hit the mark. Benjamin Hayhoe // Switch Player The Detective RPG masterpiece Disco Elysium is coming to Switch Luke Henderson // Vooks ▶ Jet Lancer — This ‘high-velocity aerial combat shooter’ is coming to the Switch next month, and the trailer looks pretty promising! I really dig the soundtrack. Looks like this may provide some solid shooter action with Advance Wars style story beats. Armor Games Studios // YouTube ▶ Dordogne — Here’s another recent game trailer that caught my interest. Completely different to the one above, this is a wholesome-looking watercolour adventure game. It’s coming to the Switch in 2021. Un Je Ne Sais Quoi // YouTube Rayman has been shafted, and it’s dissapointing Chris Penwell // Switch Watch Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a ‘mean simulator’, actually Natalie Flores // Fanbyte Someone tried to rob me in Animal Crossing Emma Kent // Eurogamer Feature: Every SEGA AGES game on Nintendo Switch, plus our top picks Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life Does Nintendo need to compete with next-gen consoles on the horizon?
