#205: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending Novemeber 1.
|
Plucky plants.
Hey , hope you’re good! Issue #205 of Switch Weekly here with your Nintendo round-up.
We got
another Direct
this week! Nintendo noted however it was to be the last of the ‘Partner’ mini presentations of the year — which made me question just
what’s going on with Doom Eternal
. The DLC for the game has just dropped on other consoles, and we’ve not heard anything about the Switch version for ages now,
I do wonder if it’s still coming
.
Over 30 games
hitting the Switch over the next seven days — including Descenders, Tropico 6, and that Jurassic World park sim. Full list below as always.
Big thanks for reading,
REVIEW Pikmin 3 Deluxe — ” Pikmin 3 unsurprisingly is still fantastic and Pikmin 3 Deluxe is arguably the best version of the game out there. “. Jim Hargreaves, writing for The Sixth Axis , notes how this latest Wii U port is Nintendo carrying on their revival of ” what some might call their lost generation of games ” adding that this entry is an ” intriguing, if not excellent, entry in the strategy genre “. Ryan Janes // Nintendo Insider ▶ Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase | October 2020 — This little presentation gave us a good look at the now delayed RPG Bravely Default II, a release date for Immortals Fenyx Rising, No More Heroes shadowdropping, and as I mentioned above cloud versions of Control and Hitman. If you’d rather not watch the nearly 20-minute video, iMore have a write-up of all the announcements . Nintendo // YouTube Interview: “There would be no Control on Switch without the cloud,” says Remedy — As mentioned above, the Switch release of Control uses the power of the cloud rather than the Switch’s built-in processing capabilites. Here, Remedy’s Mikael Kasurinen (Game Director), Mika Vehkala (Technical Director), and Thomas Puha (Communications Director) discuss this ‘landmark release’. Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life REVIEW Carto — This indie ‘world-building’ puzzler seems pretty chill and charming to boot. An experience that’s ” committed to low-stress, just-engaging-enough fun “, and something that will restore ” just a bit of your faith in community” . Graham Russell // Siliconera REVIEW Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm — ” fails to have its own identity ” yet ” clever puzzles, and solid pacing elevate it to the very tip-top of the ‘Zelda-like’ list “. Brett Medlock // Nintendo Enthusiast REVIEW Disc Room — Top-down action game. ” Like Minit and Gato Roboto before it, Disc Room is another compact but wonderful title from publisher Devolver. “. Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Mad Rat Dead — ” such a bizarre, entertaining mesh of normally disconnected concepts that blend and creates something magical “. Orpheus Joshua // Noisy Pixel REVIEW Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty — ” an acceptable imitation of Abe’s Oddysee, but nothing more “. Stuart Gipp // Nintendo Life

‘Switch Pro’ could feature a Mini-LED display, according to a new report — This screen tech is a hybrid of LCD screens with OLED-style local illumination, which offer not only screen improvements, but battery gains too. Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life A Switch Pro would signal a radical change in Nintendo’s philosophy Abram Buehner // CBR Video games are all about failure, but none more so than ‘Hades’ Jordan Oloman // NME Nintendad’s favorite spooky/horror games — Yes, Halloween was yesterday, but if your still feeling spooky here’s a list to keep the scary vibes going.
