#221: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending February 28.

Legends
Hey, issue #221 of Switch Weekly here. Hope you’re doing well. Here’s all the Nintendo stuff you need to know from the last seven days. Last week we got a Nintendo Direct, this week we got a Pokemon Presents . The series is now 25 years old, and to celebrate it we got a look at what’s planned for the series this year and beyond. The big story here was the reveal of Pokemon Legends Arceus , which has a much more open world to explore — it’s not coming out until next year, so things still look a bit early ( the trailer was a tad ropey looking to me ) but I’m kind of excited to see the Pokemon franchise move in a new direction finally . Next week is another busy one, with just under 30 games hitting the eShop, including a new Harvest Moon, and a game in which you conga with a line of card. As ever, the full list is below — let me know if anything takes your eye.
Finally, as I mentioned last week,
the fourth annual State of Switch survey is now live
. A big thank you to all of those who have taken the time to fill it out — and my apologies if you hit any technical snags with it. The survey will be closing soon, so please do fill it out if you haven’t had chance yet.
🎮 Currently Playing — Super Mario 3D World, Glyph, Super Metroid ▶ Pokémon Presents: Pokémon 25 — This is worth a watch if only for the amazing five minute intro highlighting all the big moments from the series over the past 25 years. We also got lots of new game reveals, and another look at the new Snap, which is neat. 🙂 Here’s a write-up of the reveals if you’d rather. Pokemon // YouTube REVIEW Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection — The original game from Capcom was notoriously tough, so a follow-up of a similarly gruelling fashion was bound to divide opinion. This review from Nintendo Life was largely positive, calling it a “love letter” to the 35 year old series. Mike Epstein for Gamespot wasn’t so keen, saying that although a faithul homage, its ” an artifact of a time long-past “. I found Imran Khan’s piece on Resurrection over at Fanbyte interesting — it raises the question as to whether the game is at fault if the player finds the core challenge to be so frustrating to the point of misery. Finally, here’s Digital Foundry’s take ( complete with the usual technical overview ) on this brutal return to form. Tom Massey // Nintendo Life Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 confirmed for 2021 Switch release Ryan Craddock // Nintendo Life
