#235: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending June 6.
|
Switch Pro? I need a source. Hey, issue #235 of Switch Weekly here, with the Nintendo stuff you need to see. Hope you’re doing well. Last week I mentioned how seemingly half the Nintendo web seemed convinced that a Switch ‘Pro’ announcement was imminent. Eurogamer corroborated the Bloomberg report , listings for the fabled product showed up on various retailer websites , and more trusted journos put their weight behind the gossip….and yet, nothing. So we wait. However, new hardware news or not, Nintendo did finally share their E3 plans . We’re getting a 40-minute Direct , followed by a three-hour Treehouse session filled with demo previews. The date for your diary is June 15. One curious thing I did notice: Nintendo said their E3 Direct will focus ” exclusively on Nintendo Switch software ” — so I sure hope they get round to revealing new hardware ahead of the show. Not long now, ‘tendo.
Anyway, there’s just over
20 games hitting the Switch
next week, the highlight of which has to be Nintendo’s Game Builder Garage. Full list is below.
🎮 Currently Playing — Breath of the Wild, Traffix Nintendo at E3 2021 — We’ve got a date. Expect 40 minutes of Nintend news — lemme know what you’re hoping to see over on the Switch Weekly Discord . ( Psst, that Discord link expires in a few days and is only open to the first 25 people. ) Nintendo of America // Twitter Predictions for Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct — The Nintendo Life team share their hopes and dreams. Kate Gray // Nintendo Life ‘Shin Megami Tensei V’ release date, story and gameplay details leaked — Kinda crazy to think this game was announced back at the Switch reveal in January 2017. Alan Wen // NME REVIEW Overboard – A murder mystery sure to make a splash — This game surprise launched last week from what I can gather. It’s a project born out of Covid-19 lockdowns, and made by a small team in just five months — the result is ” an engaging ode to both choose-your-own-adventure stories and the murder mystery genre at large “. Tilly Lawton // Pocket Tactics REVIEW Mighty Goose — This arcade run and gun shooter is short but has ” plenty of pixelated nostalgic charm and honk humour “. Rachel Hayes // Switch Weekly REVIEW Super Bomberman R Online Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance Stuart Gipp // Nintendo Life Crysis Remastered Trilogy confirmed for a Switch release this fall Thomas Whitehead // Nintendo Life PREVIEW Mario Golf: Super Rush has boss fights and a thunder-summoning sword — It’s wild that it has been so long since we last got a home console Mario Golf game — the last was Toadstool Tour for the GameCube. Anyway, this preview reveals some neat RPG elements to this installment, which is out later this month. Giovanni Colantonio // Digital Trends The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Vs. Breath Of The Wild — Nathan outlines how the often panned Skyward Sword does certain things better than the most recent release in the long-running series. Nathan Ellingsworth // The Gamer Breath of The Wild 2 needs to finally introduce playable Zelda Jade King // The Gamer Ten GameCube games we need to see on Nintendo Switch — I’ll share any list with Viewtiful Joe on. In fact, here’s my very own GameCube wishlist from back in 2016. James Sumner // GameByte I think New Pokémon Snap is making me a worse photographer Holly Green // Paste Pokemon Let’s Go is the series’ best game in over ten years Cian Maher // The Gamer The moral philosophies that center Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Austin Jones // Paste Umurangi Generation’s new gyro controls mean I’ll absolutely play it again on Nintendo Switch Stacey Henley // The Gamer
