#268: Your Nintendo Update

Hello , here’s issue # 268 of Switch Weekly — your round-up of all things Nintendo.

Yep, it’s that time again — the State of Switch survey is back for the fifth year running! If you don’t know it’s my annual questionnaire on all things Nintendo — last year over 10,000 people took part . This year we have a few new questions on things such as the OLED model, the NSO ‘Expansion Pack’, bluetooth audio, and more. It will take about 15 minutes to complete, and you can find it right here . I’ll be sharing the results in Switch Weekly later next month. Please do spread the word!

A really busy one on the eShop next week, as there are over 40 games coming to the Switch, with plenty of variety . My highlight has to be OlliOlli World. Those questionable Cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts are also landing. The full list is below for you.

My copy of Pokemon Legends arrived, but due to me preparing the survey most of this week I haven’t had chance to play much. I’ve only played the first hour so far.

• 🎮 Derpy Conga — A physics-based 3D puzzle platformer about friendship. (Feb 10 in U.S.)
• El Gancho — Retro-style platformer.
• ⭐️ Grapple Dog — Pixel platformer with an appealing GBA-like quality. (Feb 10 in U.S.)
• 🎮 Letters – a written adventure — A casual ‘coming of age’ story with puzzles to solve.
• ⭐️ Welcome to Elk — An interesting looking biographical 2D adventure set on an ‘island like no other’. Worth tapping through to read more to see if it would be your sort of thing. M for mature. (Feb 10 in U.S.)

• Blackberry Honey — Lesbian love story visual novel / adventure. (Feb 11 in U.S.)
• Blipz — A colour-based arcade puzzle game with five modes to try.
• Breakout: Recharged — Atari’s arcade brick-breaker with 50 challenge levels to tackle.
• Castle Morihisa — Fantasy roguelike card battler.
• Cellular Harvest — A shortform first-person photgraphy/exploration game about aliens.
• 📦 Death end re;Quest 2 — Switch port of this horror RPG. M for mature. (Feb 8 in U.S.)
• Death Park — Escape a killer clown in this first-person horror experience. Not for me .
• Dino Galaxy Tennis — Like tennis, but with dinosaurs, in space. 2D. Support for four players.
• Egglia Rebirth — Lot of egg chat in this fantasy dice-roll RPG.
• ⭐️ Inua – a Story in Ice and Time — Narrative puzzle adventure set in the Canadian far north.
• ⭐️🎮 Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix — These celebrated Disney / Square Enix RPGs come to Switch. It is a Cloud version though.
• ⭐️🎮 Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue — More Sora action. Cloud version.
• ⭐️🎮 Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind — Take on the Heartless. Cloud version. You can also get all of the above Kingdom Hearts titles in a Cloud bundle .
• Kittens and Yarn — Untangle wool in this minimalist puzzler.
• KungFu Kickball — 2D fantasy fighting-sports game with online multiplayer too.
• Nape Retroverse Collection — Three 8-bit games in one collection.
• Noel the Mortal Fate — An adventure game which Persona fans may like the look of.
• ⭐️ Ocean’s Heart — Top-down pixel-art action RPG. Strong Zelda vibes, looks good.
• Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It’s Dark Outside — 90s point and click adventure.
• Pajama Sam 2: Thunder And Lightning Aren’t So Frightening — As above, solve puzzles in this adventure aimed at a younger audience.
• Perpetuum Mobile — Keep flying in this procedurally generated wire-frame arcade action game.
• PowerSlave Exhumed — Port of this mid-90s ‘Doom-like’ 3D first-person shooter set in an Egyptian tomb.
• Putt-Putt Saves The Zoo — Kids adventure game port, set in a Zoo.
• Retro Bowl — Looks to be a decent attempt at a retro style take on American Football.
• Rise of the Third Power — 2D adventure/RPG that’s “loosely based on the political climate of Europe in the late 1930’s”.
• Spy Fox in “Dry Cereal” — An ‘edutainment’ adventure game port.
• Sword of Elpisia — 2D fantasy JRPG with SNES-era vibes.
• Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection — Three 80s side-scrolling action games bundled. A rewind function has been added.

Friday, February 11

• Pendula Swing – The Complete Journey — 1920s point and click adventure with a fantasy twist.
• Pinball Frenzy — Two pinball tables to play on.
• Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity — Pixel art survival horror port set in an alternative 1897. Inspired by the likes of Resident Evil, Dark Souls, and Eternal Darkness. M for mature.
• Word Chef — Basic word puzzle.
