A Silksong before Kirby

Hello, hope you're doing well. Here's your latest round-up of all the best Nintendo news and links that you need to see.

This week's big Nintendo news was the somewhat unexpected Kirby Air Riders Direct, hosted by Sakurai. I think I was expecting Metroid Prime 4 to be the next game to get the big special Direct treatment, so this came as a surprise. The new Kirby game arrives in November, and it's already up for preorder (if you click and buy via this link you'll be supporting the newsletter 🩷).

Beyond Nintendo, the admittedly bigger story of the week was that of Hollow Knight: Silksong. After several years it's finally ready, and is launching really soon: as in, within the next few weeks. It arrives on September 4. I never truly clicked with the original — but always wanted to give it another shot, especially as I've heard enough folks say they revisited it and ended up with it as one of their all time favourites — that, and enough people absolutely love it that it's so very clearly worth me giving another shot. I've got two weeks to try again! 😅

Finally, I thought this was interesting: someone is having a go at manufacturing a Switch 2 accessory which will let you use Switch 1 Joy-Con on the new machine.

Next week has close to 40 games coming to the eShop, including the new Kirby upgrade, Story of Seasons remake, and a new Shinobi.
