#273: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending March 13.
|
Chocono. Hello , Chris here with issue # 273 of Switch Weekly — your update on the week in Nintendo . Hope you’re well. This week saw F-Zero X arrive on the Switch Online app. It’s something I sunk a fair bit of time into when it first launched on the N64 back in the late 90s — admittedly I wasn’t very good at it back then, so I’m looking forward to giving it a try now it is on Switch to see if I fare any better. Let me know if you’ve given it a shot. There’s just over 20 games coming to the Switch next week, the full list is below for you. Finally, just a quick update on the State of Switch results for 2022 — I’m still working through all of the results and I’m making good progress on the report. I know many of you are keen to see them so I’m eager to get it wrapped up and shared with you all. I’ll catch you next time.
Cheers

🎮 Currently Playing — Pokemon Legends: Arceus REVIEW Chocobo GP gets left in the dust by Mario Kart —” feels like a game that wants to be Mario Kart with Final Fantasy, but it simply doesn’t have the creativity or mechanical chops to back it up “. Lots of mixed reviews on this one, but all seem to lean to the negative side of the scale. Some odd design choices and microtransactions seem to be leaving a bad taste generally. Here’s another review from Ryan Janes at Nintendo Insider . Hayes Madsen // Inverse Nintendo announce delay for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp — This change comes following the invasion and ongoing war in Ukraine. The right decision considering the narrative and themes in the game. Nintendo of America // Twitter Nintendo suspends Russian product shipments — The company shared a statement stating that they’ve ” decided to suspend shipping all Nintendo products to Russia for the foreseeable future ” adding that this is due to ” considerable volatility surrounding the logistics of shipping and distributing physical goods ” — it’s a rather vague, limp statement really, especially when compared to those made my others in the gaming space. Tom Phillips // Eurogamer Switch Online app goes 2.0, gets a redesign and adds a few new features John Voorhees // Mac Stories REVIEW Young Souls —” smartly mixes RPG-lite elements with a compelling story, non-linear structure, and some impressively satisfying beat ‘em up combat to make for an experience that you won’t want to miss “. Mitch Vogel // Nintendo Life Will Steam Deck suffer from Valve’s short attention span? — This isn’t a Nintendo-read of course, but I found it an interesting take on what is potentially a mass-market device offering a somewhat parallel experience to Nintendo’s machine. Rob Fahey // gamesindustry REVIEW Persona 4 Arena Ultimax: a decent anime fighter, if not necessarily the remaster ‘Persona’ fans want Alan Wen // NME REVIEW The Cruel King and the Great Hero Ted Hazell // Nintendo World Report Super Nintendo World to open at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023 Jeffrey Rousseau // gamesindustry ‘OlliOlli World’ is an authentic and modern representation of skater community and culture Jake Green // NME
It’s good and righteous when Pokémon kick my ass
