REVIEW Detective Pikachu Returns is a super effective story let down by dated visuals — I enjoyed this review as it highlights how the ” deceptively simple story ” found here ” takes the game in a narrative direction that’s legitimately kind of shocking (in a good way) for a Nintendo release squarely aimed at kids .” This is seemingly chiefly due to the game pushing players to ” reflect on what it means to be a part of law enforcement ” by trying to ” emphasize the importance of understanding that cops — like all people — are quite capable of lying “. Giovanni Colantonio writing for Digital Trends asked the question: ” Who exactly is this game for “? On the whole the game has had a rather mixed reception , thanks in part to the graphics. Charles Pulliam-Moore // The Verge PREVIEW WarioWare: Move It! is low-key the year’s best exercise game — This being billed as a spiritual successor to the Wii’s Smooth Moves sounds perfect to me. Andy Robinson // VGC ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ to release September 2024 with two models priced at and above $400 — Salt at the ready! It’s a Switch 2 rumour that suggests Nintendo may ship a digital-only version of their next hardware — not something I’d put much stock in, but who knows . Francesco De Meo // WCCF Tech ‘Switch 2’ doesn’t really need backwards compatibility Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life REVIEW Wargroove 2 — This sequel ” presents a compelling new way to experience its tried-and-true strategy gameplay ” — that’s via the roguelike Conquest mode. Overall, Jordan concludes by noting that ” strategy fans should rejoice at the opportunity to spend more time with a wonderful series that puts a fantasy twist on Advance Wars. “. Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report INTERVIEW Q-Games’ Dylan Cuthbert on Star Fox, preservation and big PAL borders Chris Scullion // VGC REVIEW Disgaea 7 rights Disgaea 6’s wrongs Jenni Lada // Siliconera REVIEW Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos Angelus Victor // Noisy Pixel Nintendo President reiterates Switch software support into FY24/25 — Via a recent Nikkei interview . Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life What video game consultants actually do, and why ‘Kit & Krysta’ are doing it Alan Lopez // Nintendo Life ‘I can’t kill a wolf but will happily watch a Sim drown’: murder and morality in video games Amelia Tait // The Guardian The making of Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem – GameCube’s horror classic — This game is a unique bit of horror experimentation from Nintendo. I didn’t realise the project started life as an N64 title before moving over to the disc-based GameCube: ” The transition was brutal [..] Pretty much everything had to be redone, and it pushed us all to our limits to finish it. .” James Churchill // Time Extension
