Octopath Traveler 8th Anniversary

Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II get Switch 2 versions today in Japan, later elsewhere

Both Octopath Traveler and its sequel are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Square Enix, as part of today’s Japanese Octopath Traveler 8th anniversary livestream, announced that the two HD-2D games would be getting these new, standalone Nintendo Switch 2 versions.

The livestream announced that the digital versions of the games will be priced individually at ¥5,478, or in a discounted bundle. These digital Switch 2 versions of both Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are available now over on the Japanese eShop.

Beyond Japan, a western release date has also been revealed. However, whereas Japan can grab the digital versions today, everyone else has to wait until October. The digital versions, arriving October 1st, will cost around $60 individually or $75 as a bundle.

A physical release (no doubt a Game-Key Card) is also in the way, and will launch globally in October too.

It’s also worth noting that like with other Switch 2 releases, Square Enix is holding firm on not offering an upgrade path for existing Switch owners.
