Switch 2’s DLSS upscaling might not be as powerful as hoped, it’s claimed Chris Scullion // VGC ▶ Reflecting on Zelda: Ocarina of Time 25 years later — A look back at the impact of this seminal classic featuring Peer Schneider, Kit & Krysta, Imran Khan, and others. Good Vibes Gaming // YouTube ▶ Zelda Ocarina of Time 25th anniversary X Ghibli: CASTLE TOWN — A lovely fan film. RwanLink // YouTube Nintendo is releasing an adults-only N64 Switch app in Japan — This move allows titles such as GoldenEye and Jet Set Radio (and maybe future ‘Z’ rated titles like Perfect Dark?) to see release on the Japanese NSO. Regulation/certification rules in Japan means that adult rated content needs to be made available in separately. Andy Robinson // VGC ▶ The lost Majora’s Mask notebook — The story of a Nintendo Power writer who went to Japan to help pen the English-language script for N64 Zelda hit Majora’s Mask. Some neat trivia here. The Hyrule Journals // YouTube REVIEW In Stars and Time — ” an RPG classic waiting to happen “. Daz Skubich // Pocket Tactics The Nintendo Switch has fallen from grace — The author briefly shares why their Switch has been gathering dust, and it reads mainly as due to them playing indie hits on the Steam Deck now via Steam. I think it’s likely a niche position considering the gulf in units between the Switch (130M+) and the Steam Deck (reportedly around ~10M), but there is something here. Nintendo’s platforms have always been carried by the strength of Nintendo’s first party output, and with the Switch that was ever so slightly different — it became an indie darling too. But with this form factor now normalised, and the eShop falling short in many ways, I can see how that indie appeal has been lost to some small degree . Ben Sledge // The Gamer ▶ The Animation in Super Mario Wonder — A lovely study of the rich, expressive animation found in Wonder. Video Game Animation Study // YouTube Abram Buehner // Nintendo Life ▶ Super Mario RPG is loyal to a fault Source Gaming // YouTube After Cocoon, games need to trust players more Stacey Henley // The Gamer 15 years ago, the ultimate cozy game series got the shakeup it needed — Touches upon how the third Animal Crossing entry is one that’s often forgotten about, but introduced new life to the franchise. Lisa Marie Segarra // Inverse REVIEW Super Crazy Rhythm Castle — ” a flawed but interesting game that is wildly creative yet doesn’t always live up to its ambitions ” Allyson Cygan // Nintendo World Report The Bluey game lets kids down — and everyone else Oli Welsh // Polygon How nostalgia and in-app purchase fatigue are making the Game Boy big again Ian Carlos Campbell // Inverse Pokémon is no longer just a game — it’s a lifestyle — Thoughts on a new live-action Pokemon show. Alicia Haddick // The Verge
