▶ Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase July 2025 — Gotta tell ya, I didn't love this one. Considering this is the first Direct post launch (DK aside) it wasn't a particularly strong showing. There's stuff here for JPRG and Sports fans to enjoy, but on the whole a tad uneven overall I'd say. It did little to inject enthusiasm for the upcoming third-party slate. Here's a round-up if you'd rather skim / not watch. Oh, and a good chunk of the announcements are gonna be Game Key Cards… which is a bummer. Nintendo // YouTube Nintendo has sold 6 million Switch 2 consoles and almost the same number of Mario Kart World — A huge start for the Switch 2. Andy Robinson // VGC Nintendo raises the Switch 1 price from $299 to $339 — After eight years the price of Nintendo's first hybrid is going….up. Tariffs to blame. Accessories are also hit. Emma Roth // The Verge The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales – Not just a Zelda clone Dave Aubrey // DBLTAP ▶ Where did Nintendo's logo come from? – This is a superb video shedding some light on the history of Nintendo's logos, the company's use of typefaces, and the broader story of Japanese type foundries. Good stuff. Kaihatsu // YouTube Help or hindrance? We asked the experts what the "bafflingly large, confusing" UK Online Safety Act could mean for video games — The internet in the UK (where I call home) got a little bit shitter last week. Here's what the impact could be for games. Ed Nightingale // Eurogamer Why Nintendo didn’t raise the price of the Switch 2 (yet) Andrew Webster // The Verge REVIEW Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound — "tough to complete and even harder to master, but it’s hardest to put down". Wesley LeBlanc // Game Informer Hayes Madsen // Inverse REVIEW Time Flies — "such an easy recommendation to just about anyone who plays games. Your time with it may be short, but it is certainly well spent.". Willem Hilhorst // Nintendo World Report ▶ The best album of 2025 (isn't an album) — Mario Kart World, baby. Stick in on your music app already Nintendo. Mic The Snare // YouTube Driving Me Bananza — "seeing my son’s developing coordination, problem solving, and even his map reading skills grow while playing has moved me to proud dad tears more than once". Paul Shkreli // Boss Fights The unlikely return of Madō Monogatari Marc Normandin // Endless Mode
