Hey,
issue 98 of
Switch Weekly
here, with all the Nintendo news you need to know.
This week saw the
arrival of Nintendo’s long-promised paid online service
. It grants members acess to online play, voice chat, cloud saves and a selection of retro NES games. I’ve linked to a few opinion pieces on the service in the issue.
As for me, I’ve spent a bit of time trying out the collection of NES games you get as a paying member. The app that houses all these games seems well done — it’s snappy, and easy to navigate. The games themselves run as you’d expect, and
the addition of online multiplayer to 30-year-old games is impressive
. As you might imagine, some of the games haven’t aged well, but for the most part it makes for a welcome nostalgia hit — I’m enjoying going through Super Mario Bros 3 again
(the addition of save slots helps)
.
Anyway, all the usual good stuff, including what games are on the horizon are in the issue below! Oh, and before I go — did you know: Nintendo was founded on this day (September 23) 129 years ago!
Have a great week, and thanks for reading,
Cheers,
Chris
.

Nintendo is offering an exclusive Fortnite bundle with the Switch
Usually bundles offer up some value by having a $60 game packed in — not one that’s free to play. Somehow I don’t think that will matter too much here, and this will no doubt do well during the holidays.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy – Announcement trailer
The first three Phoenix Wright games, packed with courtroom drama, are coming to the Switch next year as a trilogy bundle — I’m down for replaying this. Although, is it just me that finds it surprising that the original game came out back in 2001?
