▶ After 9 years, it's time for a change — After 454 issues of Switch Weekly, Hanafuda Report is here — and here's a video to tell you more. Chris Brandrick // Hanafuda Report ▶ Kirby Air Riders Direct 2 — More information than any of us figured we'd need, but here we are — an hour-long in-depth look at this new racer from Sakurai and co. It seems packed with ideas. An online demo is coming next month. There's a text recap of the highlights here if you'd rather. Nintendo // YouTube Kirby Air Riders' in-depth accessibility options are especially solid by Nintendo standards Quinton O'Connor // The Gamer It's in the game — Nuanced thoughts on a possibly healthy moment of expectation-setting seen during the recent Kirby Air Riders Direct, namely the absence of any DLC plans for the game. Kyle Labriola // Blueberry Lemonade REVIEW Once Upon a Katamari — "feels like the third game in a trilogy with the two original PS2 games". Neal Ronaghan // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Persona 3 Reload — Described as a good but conservatice port that "should've been the easiest win for Atlus — but it is lacking in some key areas". Mikhail Madnani // RPG Site Xbox reiterates its support for Switch 2 — Following the news that Microsoft is sticking its biggest mascot on PlayStation, here's a carrot on a stick regarding Switch support. Still waiting on that promised Call of Duty… Liam Doolan // Nintendo Life The entire Luigi's Mansion trilogy will soon be playable on Switch 2, just in time for Halloween — I have a soft spot for the original, so I'm thrilled to see it added to Switch Online. A perfect one weekend game. Josh Coulson // The Gamer Assassin’s Creed Shadows has finally been officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 — Arrives in December, you can carry over your progress from elsewhere, and yes it's a Game Key Card. It's up for pre-order already. Chris Scullion // VGC Elden Ring delayed on Switch 2 "to allow time for performance adjustments" — The unfortunate irony of this being the 'tarnished' edition. Anyway, this is the right move following those reports in the summer that the performance on this one was a tad ropey. Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life REVIEW Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted — This remaster of the original "comes with questionable choices, but it's still a good way to get re-acquainted with (or introduced to) one of the quirkiest puzzle-strategy games of the 2000s". Alessandro Fillari // IGN ▶ The original plans for Pikmin 4 — Nintendo announced a free update for Pikmin 4 this week, so this look back at the development history of the game is a timely watch. Beta64 // YouTube Reus 2 is a fantastic god simulator now on consoles for the first time Robin Bea // Inverse REVIEW Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective — "a love letter to the universe that Retro Studios and Nintendo built". IGN shared a snippet highlighting some of the creative tensions mentioned in the book. It's out in a few days. Jason Ganos // Nintendo Wire Pokémon Legends Z-A is the creepiest entry yet, not in a good way Ollie Reynolds // Nintendo Life Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 is a new template for HD remasters Madeline Blondeau // Endless Mode Eight years later, why Super Mario Odyssey is still a fantastic 3D platformer Ethan // Nintendo Everything The origin of Mario's trademark animation — There's lots of excellent GIFs here that illustrate just how many other games took clear inspiration from the way in which Mario kicks the bucket. Drew Mackie // Thrilling Tales of Old Video Games The strength of Super Metroid's soundtrack is in its silences Maddy Myers // Endless Mode "This is where the game truly begins" – The secret weapon behind Nintendo's most iconic box art — A lovely bit of background here on how a Seattle-based designer helped level up Nintendo's packaging in the '80s & '90s. Jack Yarwood // Time Extension Gotta Share ’Em All — New father Myke on his love of Pokemon, and the joy in sharing just that. Sweet. Myke Hurley // The Enthusiast
