Hey,
here’s issue 107 of Switch Weekly, with the Nintendo news you need to know from the past seven days.
So, as I
noted last week
, my copy of Pokemon hadn’t yet arrived. But, I’ve now had chance to play it, putting about six hours into it so far. It’s a loving recreation of Pokemon Yellow, and hits all the right nostalgia notes – the music is great, the visuals are crisp and clean
(if a little sterile)
and it’s very much vintage 90s role-play. My issues with it? The combonation of the simplified mechanics and dated battle system leave me feeling a little ho-hum on the overall experience. That said, I think it’s a solid intro for the Pokemon Go generation, and this game will do very, very well.
Anyway, with Pokemon now out, the focus turns to Smash Bros, which is only just a few weeks away. Have you preordered it yet, picking it up at launch, or skipping it?
Loads of stuff is hitting the eShop next week, with over 30 games hitting the store. Highlights seem to be ABZÛ, NAIRI: Tower of Shirin, The First Tree and Sword & Sworcery. Full list below, as ever!
