The 2025 Hanafuda Report Community GOTY Winners

Before the holidays I asked Hanafuda Report readers what games for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 they enjoyed playing the most throughout 2025. Hundreds of you responded, and I can now reveal the winners of the first Hanafuda Report Community Game of The Year.

Yup, I’ve totted up all of the votes, and tallied things, so let’s get straight into the results. Here are the top ten Switch games of 2025, as voted for by Hanafuda Report readers and Club members:

1. Donkey Kong Bananza
   Yup, Donkey Kong’s destructive Void Co adventure took the top spot and is your Hanafuda Report Community Game of the Year. This fresh new DK romp offered up a novel new destructive way to explore and interact with your environment, and was a much welcomed and long overdue return for some genuine 3D DK action.

Just outside of the top ten we had games including Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and so many more. In fact nearly 200 games were mentioned across all responses — which highlights how rich and varied the library of games is across both the Switch and Switch 2.
