Star Fox Adventures is the Hanafuda Club Games Club pick for October

For October Hanafuda Club members will be playing through the 2002 GameCube game Star Fox Adventures.

This third-person action adventure title sees Fox jump out of the Arwing, tasked with exploring Dinosaur Planet — a locale said to be on the far edge of the Lylat system.

The game is unique in that it’s Rare’s only GameCube game to see the light of day, and it was the last game they developed before the company joined Microsoft (that went well….). In fact, the original game came out the day before the Microsoft acquisition was completed.

I played the game on the original GameCube back in 2002 (or it may have been early ’03 by the time I got a copy), and I thought it was….ok. It looked great (and still does to some degree), it was kinda neat to see Fox in a new setting, and the Zelda-style mechanics found throughout are nice. I absolutely hated ‘Tricky’, the annoying Dino companion who joins you on your quest. I never did complete it.

How Long To Beat tells me it typically takes around 16 hours to finish Star Fox Adventures. So not too shabby. I’m curious to see how far I get this time around, and will be hopefully playing it on stream, and discussing the play-through with Hanafuda Club members on the Discord.
