#143: Your Nintendo Update
Your Nintendo digest for the week ending August 18.
|
No joy.
Hey, issue #143 of Switch Weekly here, with the week in Nintendo news. If you’ve been following along in recent week’s you’ll know my left JoyCon is in for repair — well it’s still with Nintendo (maybe they’re a little busy with these sort of fixes🤔). They’ve updated me to say it’s currently getting fixed so I’ll be able to report back on how the whole thing is dealt with in the UK soon. We’ve got a new indie showcase taking place tomorrow which isn’t using the ‘Nindies’ name – so maybe that’s been tossed aside as a name for these things. Other than that a few Astral Chain previews have surfaced, so if you’re looking forward to that then they’re worth checking out. All the usual in the issue below.
Thanks for reading, and catch you next week!
PREVIEW Astral Chain hands-on — “so thoroughly engrossing”. The next game from Platinum is out at the end of this month, and initial previews (including this from Kotaku ) are seemingly really positive. Daan Koopman // Nintendo World Report Switch Joy-Con drift threatens to become Nintendo’s Red Ring of Death — Ok, so this headline may be a little bit exaggerated but this drift issue does threaten Nintendo’s otherwise golden hardware reputation. This related video from Arlo also takes the drift issue to task . Jeremy Peel // VG247 ▶ Indie World showcase – August 19 — A 20 minute showcase of indie games coming to the Switch — this is airing tomorrow . Make sure you don’t miss it! Nintendo FCC filing reveals SNES-shaped controller for Switch — We can probably expect SNES games on the Switch Online service pretty soon, but would you pay more for them ? Oliver Brandt // Vooks

EA: “We are absolutely looking at more Switch games in our portfolio” — Now, the obvious joke here is: so FIFA 21, FIFA 22 and FIFA 23 right? But joking aside, this is an interesting comment considering recent remarks to the contary . Nintendo Everything REVIEW Exception Darren Palma // Nintendo Insider
