Mina the Hollower

After years of development, Mina the Hollower is ready — and a release date is coming soon

Yacht Club Games (of Shovel Knight fame) has today announced that Mina the Hollower, one of my games to watch for 2026, is now, finally, complete and has officially ‘gone gold’.

The ambitious top-down action adventure game — which was first announced via a Kickstarter campaign back in 2022 — was delayed at the end of last year for additional polish, pushed from its planned October 2025 launch and into an unknown 2026 release date.

Now, we know it’s coming sooner rather than later, as the studio teased via a Bluesky post earlier today that they have begun the submission process with first-party partners (Nintendo included). Yacht Club Games also added that they will know the final release date for the game “soon” and will share it in due course. The game is coming to both the Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 (in addition to other platforms).

The game rocks a strong gothic horror look, and is presented in a rad Game Boy Color 8-bit visual style — think Castlevania meets Zelda.

I’ll be sure to share an update when we get a solid release date.
