Nintendo has announced a new, Switch 2 exclusive spin-off game set in the Splatoon universe. Here’s the first trailer for ‘Splatoon Raiders‘:
You play as a new ‘mechanic’ character alongside the Deep Cut crew — but beyond that the trailer doesn’t give too much away. It also sounds like this one may be some way off yet, given that “research is still underway“. A 2026 release for sure I reckon.
Amusingly this was first revealed on the Nintendo Today app — there’s something about them using that app for big news which I still find novel.
Anyway, I like Splatoon but have never found myself to be all that good at the competitive side of it, so more single-player or campaign focused experiences like this spin-off appears to be offering sounds good to me. As for a mainline entry, I don’t think there’s any immediate clamouring for a Splatoon 4, so an update to the popular third entry (including performance tweaks), sounds like the smart move right now.
