Nintendo reported its latest financial results Friday, sharing that the Nintendo Switch 2 has now sold a total of 19.86 million units worldwide. However, as many expected, the company also revealed a series of price rises set to come in to force over the next few months, owing to persisting global supply chain issues, chiefly component cost surges, along with a weaker Yen and changes in oil prices. As such, the company expects a future drop in Switch 2 sales as a result, with the company now slashing their Switch 2 forecast for the next financial year by a notable 16.9%.

Starting in September the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost U.S. gamers $499, up from $449. It’s a similar story in Europe, where the system will go from a €469 starting price up to €499. A price change is also hitting in Australia and New Zealand. Japanese Switch 2 consoles are also seeing a price bump coming in to effect at the end of this month.
The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t the only thing seeing a price rise however, as the cost of Nintendo’s Switch Online membership is seeing a modest bump too for Japanese players.
In announcing the various price changes Nintendo said: “We sincerely apologize for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding.“
