Nintendo to stop selling the original Switch in Europe
|
|
Nintendo’s EU Switch 2 gets a 1% smaller battery and is 10 grams heavier — The new user-replaceable battery model is expected to arrive in the Autumn, and will be joined by new controllers, also with replaceable batteries. This also means Nintendo are going to actually stop selling the original Switch, OLED, and Lite across Europe next year. Halting sale of the original model is clearly not the move Nintendo wanted to make here, and is a ‘cut your losses’ decision essentially dictated by the upcoming EU battery ruling set to come into force. I do wonder what the impact will be here, as options for European consumers looking to get into the Switch world will soon be limited.
